This is the best I have read on the current condition of our world and on the path forward towards peace. Indeed, it is heartwarming! Dr. Akhavan has a lucid, clear, and in-depth yet easy to read writing style. In her fluid and interesting approach, she helps the reader recognize how most, if not all experts and commentators about the state of our world have misdiagnosed its many separate yet related problems. In her book, she analyzes the causes of war and terrorism from their apparent symptoms.

I deeply enjoyed this concise book about establishing world peace. I plan to reread it and continue to employ ideas in my own writing about world peace. The book uses friendly language that’s not too scholarly yet conveys deep ideas and their proofs.

In merely 113 pages she traces the history over centuries of how destructive dictatorial forces fueled by racism, nationalism, religious strife, gender inequality, and extremes of wealth and poverty have ravaged the world. But dialectically constructive forces have begun emerging that can move the world in a peaceful direction. She describes each of the five forces supporting the destructive forces and proposes how to support constructive forces. This would make a great entry level textbook for a peace studies class or program because it is brief yet comprehensive and accessible.

The author has put all the pieces of the puzzle together and written a concise and very thoughtful book on the meaning of what is going on in the world today, the positive things that are happening, and how we are heading toward a peaceful future. It gives readers hope for the future of mankind.

This is an engaging, accessible, well-researched book. If you are seeking a better understanding of the scope, pace and kinds of changes occurring in the world right now (and the constructive and destructive societal forces causing them) and want a reason to be optimistic about our planet’s collective future, Dr. Akhavan’s analysis is worth your time. The bottom line is this: Peace is not just possible or probable, it’s inevitable, and we all have a role in making it happen.

I have just finished reading Peace for Our Planet. I enjoyed it so much. This book is a ray of hope in a world that is teeming with war, famine, economic strife, gender inequality, xenophobia and other ills. The author explains in her book how ‘a new positive energy’ with enormous power is stirring in the world, and how it is leading us to a new way of life; one that is more peaceful and just. If you worry about the current world situation, reading this book might make you hopeful about our collective future.
