Cathy Sultan, an expert on the Middle East, published three award-winning nonfiction books with a traditional publisher, including the astounding memoir A Beirut Heart. When that publisher put her books out-of-print she was devastated, particularly because her voice, one that offers a woman’s perspective, was suddenly silenced.
Sultan came to Calumet Editions for a solution. We republished her three books under our unique Author Partnership Program in which author and publisher equally share the rewards and the risks of publication. When Cathy turned to fiction get the truth out about what’s really happening in the Middle East, she again turned to Calumet.
Because of my great relationship with Calumet Editions, I pitched them on my idea for a series of political thrillers, and two successful novels later I’m closing in on the third title.
