A Publishing Model Built for Serious Authors

Calumet Editions partners with a select group of authors each year, investing alongside them to publish books professionally and build long-term success.

Why Most Publishing Paths Fall Short

Today, authors often face several paths to publication, but each comes with trade-offs that can leave serious manuscripts under-supported.

Traditional Publishing

  • Credible and established
  • Highly selective
  • Slow-moving process
  • Uncertain outcome

The Challenge

Highly selective and uncertain.

Self-Publishing

  • Fast and author-controlled
  • Full burden on the author
  • Production, distribution, and marketing are difficult to manage online

The Challenge

Everything falls on the author.

Pay-to-Publish Models

  • Services are purchased
  • Publisher may not share meaningful risks
  • Long-term incentives may not be aligned

The Challenge

Payment without aligned investment.

We built Calumet Editions to offer a different path.

A True Publishing Partnership

Calumet Editions operates as a publishing partner, not a service provider.

For every book we publish:

  • The author invests 50% of the publishing budget
  • Calumet Editions invests the remaining 50% through a combination of cash and internal resources
  • We manage the full publishing process from editorial development through production and distribution
  • All revenue generated by the book is shared 50/50

This structure aligns incentives on both sides.

We succeed only when your book succeeds.

Why Authors Choose to Invest

Investing in your book raises important questions. Authors choose this model because it:

Creates shared commitment

Both author and publisher have a real stake in the book’s success.

Supports higher standards

Investment enables top-tier editorial, design, production, and distribution.

Enables faster timelines

Projects move forward more quickly than in traditional publishing.

Aligns for long-term success

The focus is on growth, reach, and lasting impact – not just initial release.

This is not a transactional arrangement. It is a joint effort to bring a book to market at a professional level and position it for growth over time.

Why We Acquire Publishing Rights

Like a traditional publisher, Calumet Editions acquires publishing rights for the books we produce.

We do this because developing a book as intellectual property requires coordinated strategy across formats and markets.

Our role is not simply to produce a book, but to expand its reach and potential.

All revenues from these rights are shared 50/50

2

3
Distribution

Placement through established channels.

4
Marketing Framework
