After finishing the book, I took a tour of the Minnesota River Valley to the site of Fort Ridgely and then on to the Birch Coulee battle site. The paranormal dimension to the reconstructed events lends an interesting sense of connection and mystery.

In The Ghosts of the US-Dakota Wars 1862, because Adrian Lee is an historian and a psychic, he is therefore able to combine his research in historical societies with his ability to connect with spirits. By doing so he finds details that would otherwise be “lost to time.” Without hesitation I would say that this one is Adrian Lee’s best books.

This book was very fast moving and an incredible account of the Dakota War of 1862. The history of this book backed by accounts from newspapers and books kept my attention through the entire book. The ending of the book brought me to tears even though I knew the outcome.

I loved this book. It definitely kept my attention, and I had a hard time putting it down. I’m a member of the Upper Sioux Tribe, so this book hit home with me.

Is it a book about ghosts? Is it a history book? Well, in fact, it is a history book written by interviewing people, long dead, who participated in the Dakota War. If you like a good history book, or a good book on the paranormal, then you will be quite satisfied with this one.

What Adrian did through extensive research, psychic interviews and paranormal investigations was to get to the truth of what really happened, while respecting both the Dakota and white men’s spirits and their feelings for the events that transpired. Excellent read!
