McEllistrom takes his characters and story into new directions with this last one. Fun to see their personal growth and the challenging physical and ethical issues they face. original plot lines throughout. Might be the best of the four in the series.

Great ending to the series. Interesting mixture of science, futuristic doomsday story, and surprisingly, theology! The multiple story lines kept me hopping, while the God/after-life question was mixed in for added intrigue. Steve was not afraid to add the question of the meaning of our existence to the stereotyped futuristic doomsday storyline. Well worth the read.

Amazingly talented and creative, writer Steve McEllistrem brings us the final installment of his sci-fi Devereux series, and it does not disappoint! Some sequels cannot live up to the original, but this one surpasses all three of them! As usual the reader is immediately engaged and pulled into the futuristic universe the author has created. The action is gripping and I found it hard to put this one down. The drama and intrigue are constant!

Arguably the best book in the series, I loved the three simultaneous plots, the virus on earth, the colony on Mars, and the renegades on the Chinese spaceship, including the way they all tied together. McEllistrem does a great job of describing the very realistic tensions that could develop in colonizing a planet and the suspicions that arise when groups don’t understand each other. In addition, the author does a wonderful job of continuing to develop the suspense around the mystery of the Susquehanna Virus, and brings it to an exciting and action-filled conclusion.

This book is once again set in a believable future with multiple story lines. This is not the tale of a galaxy far, far away, but of the earth, the moon and mars. Highly relateable and easily conceivable. McEllistrem continues to explore the limits of where science, technology and theology intersect. Raising questions that will make you think as reader.

No wonder he has been nominated for the International Book Award (several times). I loved the book with its character and plot development and how he brought everything together. I am sad this might be the last of the series (hoping it is not). It made me think on so many different levels, not just about the future but about the past and how we have handled the earth and possible consequences that we might see in the future.
