Description

This new and updated second edition of Souls Speak details the astonishing paranormal, true crime investigation into the fate of three boys believed lost in the vast caves beneath historic Hannibal, Missouri, Mark Twain’s boyhood home. Their disappearances launched the largest cave search in US history, lasting a month and involving hundreds of America’s best cavers, but no evidence of the boys was ever found.

Later, the multi-year investigation involved three psychics who independently identified the boys as, perhaps, the earliest victims of serial killer John Wayne Gacy, many years before the madman’s Chicago murder spree claimed thirty-three young men and boys. This vexing and astonishing mystery reaches its dramatic climax with the recently-discovered Gacy deathbed confession, heard by a friend a few hours before the serial killer’s execution. This brings Gacy’s known kills to thirty-six. It’s believed the depraved psychopath killed forth-five boys and young men, by his own admission.

The Gacy story continues to unfold, but the half-century mystery about the fate of Hannibal’s missing boys has been solved.

This is one of the better books I have ever read. It is hard to put down. It leaves you with a lot of questions as well as a sneak peek into that little corner of lost souls. Since I can remember when this actually happened, I found it even more intriguing.

Wingate gives brief but informing histories on various subjects that help give a back story to several subjects in this book. I highly recommend this book… I’m hoping that Wingate will soon have another book to write that will put an end to this fifty-year mystery.

This book is a favorite! It reveals a likely resolve to an unsolved mystery and offers a perfect explanation of why three young boys were never found in the nation’s largest cave hunt. The book has piqued my interest in this story, in part because it happened close to where I grew up, to kids that were near my age. This is the sorta book that could easily evolve into a great movie. It’s a real-life unsolved mystery. With any luck, this book could soon help discover the graves of three missing boys, who disappeared fifty-two years ago, potentially at the hands of a serial killer.

Is this possible? Unbelievable possibilities! As a companion book to his previously released Lost Boys of Hannibal, author John Wingate skillfully considers the possibility that the boys did not die in a cave, but rather were murder victims of the infamous John Wayne Gacy. Wingate is contacted by three qualified psychics, unsolicited, and found their interpretations precisely alike. The realm of the unknown is described as well as it is possible to do, and its relation to the Church and God evaluated by a Christian writer with opinions by various clergy. Truly a remarkable story, one which has believer and non-believer questioning their previously held beliefs. An outstanding work!
