Description

This book analyzes the many views of the Mala’ika-or angels-in the Islamic faith, the nature and functions of angels, and how a belief in angels is among Islam’s six principal Articles of Faith. The work deeply examines the most important angel, Jibril (Gabriel), who delivered the message of Al-Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad, and further examines the other archangels and their relationships to Allah. The role of angels in the earliest Islamic battles is studied, along with the central role of angels in Muslim art and the roles played by the Jinn in relation to humans.

A very good book. One of the main things I like about this book is it explored the text within the Quran, the Bible, the Torah as well as different scholar’s interpretation or ideas on each. Some of the discussions covered in this book firstly the Angels of course but also the different class among them, such as the Archangels like Jibril and Mka’il, or Guardian Angels among others. The book also talks about other ‘unseen’ beings such as the Houris and the Jinn. The book describes their roles, nature and in some cases origins of all starting from their mentions in the Quran, then how scholars past and present interpreted these verses. A very informative book that did also show me different perspectives.

As a Muslim, I have always been interested in the concept of Angels in Islam. As an academic, trying to find an essay explaining the role of Angels was very hard, until I found this on Amazon. The structure of the book clearly explains in the beginning, with the aims outlined near the end. If you want to read a detailed critical analysis into the role Angels play in Islam, the different types of Angels and their positions within Islam, the detailed role that each Angel plays and more, this book is perfect for you!
