Sandra Mahaniah
Sandra Chambers Mahaniah left her Chicago home at eighteen and has been a nomad ever since. With a lifelong passion for writing, she has so far published articles in local newspapers and journals, but was inspired by writing classes in Minneapolis and Boston to reflect on her turbulent and constantly changing life. Raising three children within a tumultuous marriage and amid the chaos of Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo), she persevered as editor and grant writer for a nonprofit publishing house, as an office manager for USAID, and as an ESL teacher. Since returning to the US, she has worked in health care administration, most recently as a project manager. Unable to sit still, she is currently emerging from her third retirement.
